On July 25th, 2022, Jeanette Belz, founder of Belz and Case Government Affairs, had the privilege of speaking at the National Association Commissions for Women's (NACW) Conference in Reno, Nevada. Jeanette spoke about her 20-year career providing customized government relations services in the state of Nevada and presented data on the current climate of public trust in government, which is at a historical low.

Jeanette delivered a message of optimism regarding the legislative process by sharing heartful stories of bold young advocates who used their voices to impact legislation. One example was Curprice Smith-Luckert, who fought to reduce required cosmetology hours for hair braiders in Nevada. Below is an article highlighting Curprice’s hard-earned efforts published in the Las Vegas Black Image Magazine.

Her presentation also included a heartwarming TED-Talk entitled How to Start a Movement, which got a chuckle from the audience and emphasized the importance of courage and leadership.

Jeanette concluded her presentation with the following advice: "Find your policy passion, be the lone person dancing, encourage or be that first follow, smart small...that's OK, do what you can … you can always rev it up, and make a difference!"

A special thanks to Jeanette Belz for her powerful words of wisdom and to NACW for your warm welcome!
